My DVD-ROM doesn't read burned dvd-rw disc.

As we all know, the future of discs is in the dvd which holds 4.5 gigs instead of the classic 800mb. To the point, my friend having a dvd-rw +(plus) burned me some files onto a dvd+r but when i pop it into my dvd-rom it doesn't even read the disc. I am running Windows 2000 Professional. Any suggestions to this problem?

What brand DVD-ROM do you have? I have a Lite-On that does not support DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, or DVD-RAM reading. Try running Nero Info Tool on your system to see if that drive supports reading those formats.

Is the DVD finalized ? The disc needs to be finalized so you can read it in a DVD-ROM drive.

A DVD+R can be read by nearly all DVD-ROM drives. You also might need a firmware flash.

BTW, DVD space is 4.38 GB, not 4.5
