Xp Hd
I have my HD partitioned into two sections.
3.5gb then 55gb. I have the OS on the 3.5 which is C and the 55gb is D:. Some programs I come about automatically install on C: without asking me. What can I do to tell them to install on D: or just automatically on D:.

Programs usually install to the C drive because it is the primary partition, and the D drive is the extended partition of that Primary partition. The only way to do it is just change the letter from C:\ to D:\ when asked for installation directory.
You may find some registry trick. Search on google.com for it, if you want. |

I know to do that and I dont mind switching. But its the install programs that dont ask where to install but just install on the C: drive.

I do believe that all you need to do is open the registry, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION. Double click on ProgramFilesDir and change the install path.
