SoundBlaster Removal
I'm running 98se & want to uninstall an SB Live 5.1 card. When doing so the SB uninstall program shows a list on which is listed the various components to remove including windows drivers. If I select all it warns that audio devices may not work if I remove the windows drivers. Are they WDM's? Should I clean them too? I'm replacing with TB Santa Cruz. Any help greatly appreciated. This is my first post & I would like to say THANX, my first build was a success due largely to the folks on this site.

Hi vanvock,
I would let the SB Live! uninstaller remove all the components. After it's done, reboot the system to Windows Safe Mode and go into Device Manager and remove the SB Live! entries. Reboot to Windows and do a ScanDisk and Defrag. Shutdown your computer, unplug it from the wall outlet and install the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. Boot the system and install the TBSC drivers. If anything for Windows itself if missing, it'll prompt you for the Win98SE CD. Cricket

Thanks Cricket, sounds like a plan to me. Thats what I was thinking but I wasn't sure. I've never seen anything so convoluted about removing it. Their web site has 3 or 4 different methods of cleaning out what may not be removed. Aloha!
