Why is XP removing my file extensions??
Hi
Basically when i download something it goes into a folder but XP is remving the file extensions so its unrecginsed when Dload is complete im manually typing the extension onto the file for "save as" before download starts does anyone know a way to fix this??? thnx |

Go to folder view and remove the check mark from hide file extensions for know file types.

can u be more specific as to how to do it i tried and just couldnt find where the mark was to check/uncheck.
Thnx mini guide as what to clikc etc to get to the tab thnx lot |

Open either my computer or windows explorer. On the menu go to tools > folder options > view; clear the check mark from the “hide file extensions for known file types. That should allow you to view file extensions.

Ahhh Wicked!! fixed thnx a lot now just one final question
When i download stuff the main folder, sub folder and file name all appear as the save item and if i click save iget an eror messege i have to deletre the folders names and just keep the file name for saving anyway i can stop this from happening I never had many troubles till i updated XP the other night then get all this
