i have just tried to intall win98se after a format on my computer and it keeps giving me a "true type font error please close down all programs and reset"
this is from both a disk and cd that i get this error this has got me stumped any help? |

Try shutting the computer down [power off & unplugged] - and open the case. Remove the RAM (might check to see if the contacts are nice and clean, and perhaps blow any dust out of the memory slots on the motherboard) - then carefully place the RAM back in. Then fdisk, delete your partition(s), recreate your partition(s) [you'll need a Primary DOS partition marked active]. Then set the computer to boot from the CD, and run Windows 98 2nd Ed. Setup again from the beginning.
If you get the same, or perhaps other, errors = try downloading DocMemory from http://www.simmtester.com to test your RAM [this program runs from a floppy, so it doesn't matter if Windows is operational or not - you boot from the floppy]. This sort of error is usually either poorly seated RAM, defective RAM, or a problematic motherboard. If you are overclocking, return to stock speeds during the install. Best of luck . . . Gary |
