Conflict I/O Port: 2F8

I have a 200MX computer with win98. When I start it gives my error message: Conflict i/O Port: 2F8
What is the problem and what can I do?
I was working before I did some cable swapping etc.
I tried to put back into original config but obviously something is this amiss.
Thank

Hi a erhard,

It looks as though you have a IRQ confict with your COM 2 port(Serial port).

What sort of modem do you have - ISA, PCI or External Serial Port modem.

Go into Device Manager>Ports>COM 2>Right-click>Properties>Resources and see if there is conflict with another device.

If your not using an external serial modem, you could try disabling COM 2 in the BIOS.
