Angry Fire M$ Paint....

Hello,
can anyone tell me why my version of M$ Paint only supports Bitmaps?Its version 5.0,my dads computer has the same version and supports JPEG and others....

What program are you using to open jpgs actually?

I have M$ paint from windows 3.1 and on XP, what's the difference. How can there be updates to this seemingly simple prog?

I think that it supports bitmaps if you install the conversion files for JPGs that come with M$ office.

Nuke:I don't,it's a new build,I never had to view a JPEG file,I just downloaded IrvanView 3.2 just now to look at it...

Statica:Is there another way?

I don't think it does,just installed Office 2k pro on bro's computer and paint is still only for bitmaps...

try to uninstall and then reinstall mspaint the version on winxp supports all pic formats

Internet Explorer should be able to show jpegs. Most of the pictures on the web are in jpeg format.


It's a very small program something like 330kb. You could probably copy it over from another computer or your XP disc.

This is what I do.

Get a .jpeg picture from the internet and save it somewhere you can find it

Open up paint

Open up your .jpeg that you saved (make sure you choose to show all files or you wont be able to see it)

Open it up

Save it

Next time you use paint you will be able to save pictures as .jpeg

This works for me with every windows version I have tried. (98, Me, XP)
