Win2k & Netscape 7
Hi,
This seems to me a kind of an odd problem. It's to do primarily with Netcape 7. Netscape 7 is reasonably OK and I don't have any major gripes or whatever. But whenever I d/l a *.exe file with N7 it attaches a .swf extension to the file..? So, for example, my d/l would appear on my desktop as 'download.exe.swf'. Once I delete the .swf extension the file will work fine. This issue only happens with files that are d/led with N7 with a .exe extension. Any ideas? I can use IE to d/l the same file and this doesn't happen so it's a N7 issue. All input would be greatly appreciated. Regards Declan (aka fredwest )

Hmmm,
Not that many Netscape users then eh? Tink, you using MS, Linux or whatever..? I have an idea as to what it is but It may sound daft.....anyway...... I have some shockwave files with a .swf extension that never used to open on their own. After some head scratching I tried opening them using an existing shockwave file with a .exe extension. Not only did they open when dbl clicked but the got a new icon (that little orange/red flower thingy). All was great until the d/l .exe problem surfaced. I'm now wondering if this has in some way screwed up the file associations with N7. It now assumes that a file of .exe is to re-associated with an extension of .swf. I imagine removing all references to .swf files from both Win2k and N7 may resolve the issue but everything worked fine with N6.X. Go figure Tink. You may want to give this a try and see if it resolves the issue. Regards Declan (aka fredwest )
