Warning box when moving start menu shortcuts
Running Win2k w/sp3; when you move a start menu shortcut by drag and drop with administartor rights a warning dialog box comes up stating that it will affect all users. How do you get rid of that annoying box?

You cant get rid of that annoying box;
Unlike the windows start menu the win2k/xp startmenu has components that belong to the following directories C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Start Menu If the component you are moving (shortcut or folder) belongs to the All Users\Start Menu directory, you will get the popup; which obviously means that the changes you make will show up for everyone. If the component is simply part of your personal startmenu you wont see the error. The options you have to do a customization without seeing that error are to: either, have the program shortcuts in your start menu or to go to windows explorer and to either allusers or to your username and move shortcuts from there. |
