Temp Internet Files

Where have they gone? I'm in the habit of cleaning out temporary internet files and some cookies periodically. Today when I went there all I found was Content IE5 and Desktop-config settings. Now I surf the net alot and know there are a lot of files somewhere but where? The only thing I've changed recently is to install VIA 4.38 4in1 drivers. System is running Win98SE.

I always go to internet options advanced tab and check :: Empty temp internet files when browser is closed, I like to keep them cleaned out too.. Maybe yours is checked and that could be why they are automatically getting cleared when you close IE browser. i've found that it is never checked by default though.

You're right it wasn't checked. I checked it and closed browser(IE6.0) Reopened and the two files I mentioned earlier are still there. Went back and unchecked. Wonder if reinstalling 98se over the top might help. Very perplexing as all was normal probably less than a week ago.

Thanks Sarge , I was amazed at what was on this box. Been online with it since 1999. A good tool to use when you take a hard drive out of service too !

I Found Them!

In C:\windows\local settings\temporary internet files. Why there instead of where they used to be in C:\windows\temporary internet files I haven't a clue.

No, all I've done is install 4in1 drivers. And name the C drive after a visit to PC Pitstop where it was suggested that naming the drive might improve performance(didn't make sense to me but didn't think it could do any harm)

I like your sig as I am one who always tries to "tweak it" until it's broken, then come here for help!
