Some boards give you liek 2 seconds to push enter to boot to CD else it goes right onto hard drive.

Sorry, was thinking win98 boot floppy with cdrom support then realized after posting that it will probably tell you that setup.exe on the cdrom must be run under windows interface.

Go here and download the boot disks for your version of XP. Then put disk one in the floppy and reboot. Just follow the directions. It will tell you when it wants the Win XP CD.

BTW you will need 6 blank floppies to make the boot disks!!

You have to cgange the boot first from cd-rom from the BIOS. Try pressing the DELETE key at the start of bootup or the F2 KEY on some systems.
Who makes your mothboard i need the model #

In the advanced bios set up page is where you change the boot sequence. you may have done this but im just making sure....

first boot device = cd-rom
second boot device = floppy
third boot device = hdd-0

1st: If you set the bios to boot from the cd-rom first, at the beging of the boot it will display a message to press a key to boot from cd-rom.

2nd: Have you upgraded the bios. be carfull when doing this follow the instructions carefully.

Hope this helps.

Try this:: Have had it work for me!!

1st boot device=IDE CDROM
2nd boot device= none
3rd boot device=none
Try other boot devices=No
If this doesn't work then I'd say the disk is not good, or your drive is having problems, may just need a good lens cleaning.

If you copied win-xp to the harddrive then copied those files to cd then you do not have a boot cd.

If you can't get it to boot to the CD, it's the easiest way to install Win XP.

Sounds like to me you aren't actually entering the BIOS. More like safe mode. Are you hitting F8? You may need to hit the delete key while rebooting.
