whats safe to delete???
I recently got a virus and while trying to remove it, I stumbled apon my windows temp file and my internet temp file. Now I know you can dump the internet temp file, but what about the windows temp? Is there anything that shouldn't be deleted??? Also, are there any other corners of my computer I should be looking into of useless stuff that looking to be dumped??? I want my computer to run smooth again and its time to clean house. Any ideas are appreciated.

Hi jnc:
You should be safe to delete files within C:\windows\temp It may warn you about deleting a program, but that is just a temporary place where a lot if programs put stuff during the initial installation of the program, then it does not clear it out afterwards, so that directory can get quite filled up. I've deleted those of many peoples PC's with no adverse affects, and have even helped clear some HD space. Look in your root directory 'C:\', and there can sometimes can be much to clear out of there too. Any .log files and .tmp files and any .txt files that you did not put there!
