a couple questions

hi
2 questions...
1) Is it a good idea to set the page file in windows xp to 0MB? Will this help performance or anything? I have 512MB of ram.

2) In my device manager, under other devices, there is something called "mass storage controller" that have the yellow error mark. Can anyone tell me what this is for? I have an intel D845PEBT2 motherboard and I'm running windows xp pro.

Thanks

Hi DUSTIN,

1) If you had a huge amount of memory (1Gb) then you could probably disable the page file, but with 512Mb, I would not.

Try setting the Min and Max values to around 200Mb and see if that works OK.

2) XP is looking for your RAID drivers. If you are not using RAID, then disable the RAID function in the BIOS.

I wouldn`t totally disable the page file even if you have say 1 G of memory. XP by default uses the page file for some core functions.

Try setting the min to 512 and max to 1 gig. Windows won`t use the p file unless it is needed.
