Resizing partition on XP
I was running 2 copies of XP on my computer and have just deleted one. As such I want to use the space from the second partition and add it to the first partition so my c: drive has more space. I use partition Magic 8. Select the c: drive and clcik resize. It then asks me where I want to take the space from and I select d: drive. It all runs and after 100% has complete I get errors 2001 and 2002 telling me the fat partitions are not compatible but they are both fat 32 which ran XP. Can anyone help me at all??
Thanks |

Sorry the exact error is 2003. The reason for the error is that the file size does not match FAT allocation for file. I dont understand this as the unallocated disk space has been formatted and does not habve a file type now. Am I missing something??

In PM, first remove the second partition completely.
Restart, then restart PM, resize the C to include the unallocated space. Should work then. |

You probably didn't restart the computer between steps the last time. Windows has to update to reflect that partition no longer exists before PM can merge the two together.
