Hello there,
Does anyone know how to configure windows xp (but this also applies to windows 98) so that it automatically moves instead of copies when dragging and dropping to or from different partitions or drives. It defaults to copy, so I have to keep dragging with the right-button and selecting move from the menu - which is annoying. Thanks in advance, Matt. |

Drag the file holding ctrl or shift or both, you can change the move/copy/shortcut function with it as well (without the context menu). Don't know which shortcut is for what, just try crtl, shift, or both together.

if you drag\drop while right clicking instead of left clicking you will get a drop down menu that will give you choices.

Cheers guys,
I was wondering if there was any kind of registry tweak or tweak UI function that would make it default to move - so that I don't have to bother with either menus or keyboard shortcuts. |

Hold the SHIFT KEY while draging. of course this is a keyboard short cut. As for the question i know of no tweaks to do this....

Use the right mouse button, instead of the left, drag, drop, and a menu pops up to do whatever action you want.
It takes a bit to get used to, but now I ALWAYS use the right button. |

Doesn't look like there's an easy answer to this one. I'll keep an eye out for a reg tweak.
Cheers anyway |
