floppy disk controllers - one too many
I have a Gateway 400, running w2k that wants to boot an extra floppy drive controller everytime it boots. This knocks out the floppy drive, so you have to get rid of one of the controllers in device manager to be able to use the floppy. That's all fine and good, but the problem returns the next time you boot. Anything I can set in the registry to prevent this? Any other suggestions? thanks.

have you checked in your bios settings to see if drive B: is enabled?
also, sometimes if the floppy ribbon cable is bad (try replacing)or connected improperly will cause a prob. the floppy should be connected to the end of the cable so the twist identifies the A: drive. |

I have seen many times where NIC cards would load twice. If you deleted one, then it would redetect it every time. The key was to delete both and let it redetect only one.
