Acpi Question
I'm running W98se & have ACPI disabled in BIOS(Epox 8kha+ MB) Does anyone know if this will effect the Power Supply fan speed?

Shouldn't. ACPI is used by Windows to shutdown the computer properly, and for hibernation, power management, wake-on events etc.

Thanks. I was wondering because I was told it's probably a "smart fan" because it has 4 wires, 2 to the MB & 2 internal to the supply, & I've never noticed it running on other than low speed.

Hi vanvock,
The smart fans are designed to run at lower RPM when the power supply isn't working too hard (and staying relatively cool). When the load on the power supply goes up and it starts to get hotter (because it's working harder), the fan RPM will increase the to help keep the power supply temps under control. Cricket

So the thermal control is in the P/S itself, right?
