i've made it as far as formatting my partition and installing windows folder, then it automatically restarts to start with rest of the install, but my puter won't restart, the monitor goes blank like it might restart but the puter just sits there and does nothing... I then tried to manually resart, but it tries to start completly over and screwws up to where the only way to goe at it again is to clear the cmos, please help me...it's my first build |

The cdrom is bootable and will actually partition and format if you wish. Not sure if that would be a better way for you to accomplish clean install. Sounds like you may have other issues though, it is a good idea sometimes to do initial installation with minimum components>>
Processor, memory, ram, video card, and HD. I like to leave sound and modem, and NIC card for after I get windows up and runnin.. HTH

that's what i've done to this point. Still messing with it, but can't get anything to go...the wierd thing is windows actually installed completely, but after eating dinner and coming down to check on it, it had obviously tried to reboot to load the intro to xp and froze. So me not knowing that it had installed completly, cleared the cmos and turned it back on again, only to boot straight in and load windows. I then went to the start menu and chose to restart, that's the last time I saw the desktop...I'm going to try to install windows me real quick and see what happens...

XP is very particular about memory. You might try with a different stick of quality memory such as Crucial or Kingston.
