Create system disk with windows XP????

This has been driving me nuts.

How do I create a system disk for windows xp??

I am preparing to build a computer and I know that when I set up my BIOS and boot it up for the first time I'll need a system disk... but how do I create a system disk for this OS?

Or, alternatively, if I don't need a system disk for Xp, what do I need at first boot up?

With windows Xp you set the computer to boot from the CD-ROM (you do not need a disk to get into the BIOS setup) and XP will FDISK and Format your drives, then install itself. Just read the onscreen instructions.

If you really must make a system disk, you can get basic boot by opening Explorer, put a diskette in A, right click on A and select format. There's an option to make it bootable. This won't do much if you have a problem with the computer though. It's much easier to boot to the CD and you can run all the recovery console commands from there, or do a repair on it.

For WinXP, it takes 7 floppies for the startup disk set. Boot to the WinXP CD...it's much easier.

I just did this & it depends on whether or not you want to create a system disk for win xp home or pro. You also have to watch out for the version XP you have (original or SP1).

The link for the program to create the 6 system disks for Pro is:

The link for Home edition is:
