' ppp '

K im pretty annoyed, i leave the computer this morning working as it normally does , ( messed up ) & i come back & as usually another random error but this time its to do with the internet , thts why i'm using my old pc & it isnt very nice. You see the problem is when i try to connect using my normal pc it says when logging on ( after authenticating password on dial up connection ) that i have some sort of code 720 i think DONT QUOTE ME ON THT. i cant rmb the number but it said tht my PPP doesnt match the ones of my ISP so i spent the last few hours tweaking & messing & nothing works. But as soon as i set it up on this pc its as fine as you can get ( cept slow) I then try to install a different isp AOL i knw iknw not really advisable ( 4unknown reasons of course ) anyway have u ne ideas please & i really am stuck this time cuz i tried everything i can think of, oh i may need to say this random error thing is im sure because of a virus i had i caught it & deleted it but ever since it still gives random errors which totally annoy me.

you mention a virus that you deleted.

if you know the name of the virus try to get a fix for it. i usually type the name in a search (ie; bugbear) and it will direct you to a fix most times. more likley than not symantec.

simply deleting the virus doesn`t always stop your problems. the bugbear for example edited the registry including several runonce entries.

just some thoughts on your problem

oh dear i spent today getting extremely frustrated thinkin some1 had cursed me, who knws. Well i got so fed up I decided to reformat my hard-drive & for some reason my cd drive or/& dvd drive have a hard time of reading the XP disc but after a few attempts it works just annoys me. Well eventually I install it & now I need to activate it online again but two things, as I've registered it before as in about a month ago will it let me do it again the pc hasnt changed one bit & no1 else has used it, secondly when i try to connect to tht activation thing it tells me it fails to connect & i dont knw why, I m worried Ive got XP & i wont be able to use it :-/ & my 98 disc is too scratched to revert back to i tried tht wouldnt read half of it . Any ideas cheers
