Dual BOOT.!??

Had win98 on system, just installed Xp Home edition and made sure i installed into a different directory, so I still have win98 on hard drive, I thought i would be able to dual boot, but it only comes up with win xp.!

Do i have to edit something in the boot.ini file?
Or can you not dual boot.

I had to install XP in the same partition as win98, bur made sure they are both fat32.
I would have installed XP in a seperate partition, but couldnt because of the win98 partition....no room left.!

Any advice?

You need to have two partitions on a hard drive to be able to duel boot.

Reformat everything. Create a Primary Partition and then install WIN98SE first and then run XP setup and it will ask you to create a new partition. Create a new partition and let XP install.

XP will modify the MBR and you will be able to duel boot WIN98SE and WINXP.

If you install XP and then 98SE. 98SE will take over the MBR and you will not be able to duel boot. Although there is a trick to this(Found in the Tips Forum)

Example:
Make WIN98SE primary partition 50% and the other partition 50%

Good luck!
