Copy/Paste not working win98se
Here is a strange one. Recently had a virus, had to reinstall win98se to fix all the files that had been corrupted and now have the PC performing even better than before the virus. But noticed something really strange that is a slight annoyance.
The Copy/Paste in Wordpad has stopped working when I am using IE 6.0 on line. The Copy/Paste works in Notepad with no problem. I usually use the Copy/Paste with Wordpad because I often save the text of my personal email. Now in order to save it I must use Notepad then Copy/Paste from Notepad to Wordpad. Any idea why it works with one and not the other? BTW the Copy/Paste works with all of my other programs where I normally use it. Only Wordpad seems to be affected.

Nothing to lose by trying the repair feature .

Another thought , it may be a Virtal Memory problem .

Thank you for all the links, jmatt.
Lots of info about the swapfile, are you thinking the swapfile is the problem?? We run the fix IE thing first and see if that solves it. In any case looks like I have some great reading material.

Could be , depending how much memory you have , here are 2 methods . Do your reading & see what you think may work best with your system .
Or you can just try & see what happens . Another alternative is to reinstall 98 over the top of your install ( don't format ) To improve swap file ( Virtual Memory ) usage on systems ( W9x/ME ) with more than 64Meg RAM . DON'T set any min/max parameters . Let Windows handle it! Put this entry in the system.ini file under [386enh] . ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1 Check on your swap file occasionally; if you haven't been playing games or running intensive apps, the swap file often will be 0 (zero). --------------------------- To set a Minimum swap file & let Windows handle the Max . Start > Run > System.ini In the [386Enh] section add a line like MinPagingFileSize=130000 Save, exit, reboot (The above sets the min to 130MBs) |
