cdrw not working since win2000 install

i bought a new mobo and video card last week (abit kd7, athlon1800+ )
i took the cdrom and cdrw from my previous pc(ecs p6bat-a+, p667)

On my previous pc i had win98, and easy cd creator 3, which came with the cdrw.

Now i am running win2000pro and easy cd creator 5. When i installed easy cd creator it gave a message that the arw4424p was not recognized. I tried burning a disc, the burning process worked but the cd cant be read in any cd drive (tried 4 different).

I also installed nero trial version, but it coulnt even find the cdrw.
the cdwriter itself is an actima 4*4*24.

on another pc, with a philips 4*4*24 cdrw and win98se, easy cd creator 5 (same one as i tried on win2000) has always worked pretty good.

Can anyone tell me where to start looking to solve this? i really dont have a clue.
many thanks in advance

update : i found on an actima help page that my cdrw is supported up to 4.5. i tried a ez cd creator 4 deluxe, but it wont work on 2000(too old maybe), it gave all kinds of errors and wouldn't even start.

does anyone know a good cdrw program that will work for me?
(actima 4x4x24P internal, win2000pro.)
i just need it to burn multisession data discs. (school projects, software updates, since the pc in my study room doesnt have an internet connection. im currently limited to 1.44 and that blows big time.
or does anyone know where i can still download an older version of nero?
(the only trial edition i could find on nero's site was 5.5, wich didn't recognize my burner.)

Email me. I have links for older, and free (legitimate) versions of many burning programs. One of them is bound to work.

That recorder is in fact on the Nero supported list, the latest version should work fine.
