Open Control Panel, User Accounts, click on Change the way users log on and off. Take out both tick marks. Restart if needed.

Most of it can be changed by going to the advanced tab of the system properties(hold the WinKey and hit pause/Break). Uncheck those things you don't need under performance.

You can change the way users logon to the older and more secure way by not using the welcome screen at logon.

You might try going to WinCustomize.com and see if they have something for the log on screen and such!

To tell you the truth, I don't even think you can change it there. The background you can definitely change because I installed a game and it put a wallpaper there and the only way I knew how to change it back was to edit the wallpaper to a solid color (what i like for a logon). However, the fact of the matter is, I don't think you can make the login itself have a "classic" look rather than the big, ugly blue bar at the top.

I don't remember how but you should be able to edit the files to change the colors and I know you can change the message. A site such as tweak xp may have directions. As far as gettting rid of the logon windows that identifies XP, I'm sure you can but there again it would take some serious altering of the file. There are alot programs that will help you do that.

Most of it will go away if turn off the eye candy. I have XP where it looks like 2000 except it does say XP Professional on the start menu. But as far as just looking at my desktop you can't tell the difference.
