Dos diskcopy in WinXp Pro
When I try using diskcopy in DOS for WinXP PRO from C:\ prompt "diskcopy a: a:" it works fine for the first copy but for the second copy it asks for the " source disk" again instead of making a second copy in the second "target disk". How can I get it to copy a second, third time without having to insert the "source disk" over and over again?
Any comments on WinXP command prompt when compared to other versions of Windows? Thanks. Last edited by Charles; 01-29-2003 at 04:40 PM. |

It's the same thing for the home version SP1. Could be a subtle hint from the industry, in general, that would rather we forgot about older legacy devices, like 1.44 floppies, parallel ports, and the like ?

OK, I`ll ask. Why use a command line when you can just drag and drop? Or right click "send to"?

OK, I`ll ask. Why use a command line when you can just copy the source disk to a temporary directory and drag and drop `til your hearts content? Or right click "send to"?

Because some of us oldtimers are used to doing it that way and if you are making multiple copies it is faster.

"if you are making multiple copies it is faster."
In theory your statement makes sense for any DOS of any Windows OS. My experience with WinXp Pro with SP1 using this threads first posting proved me otherwise since it keeps asking for that "source disk" again. |

Yes I have no idea why your system is doing that. It should make as many copies as you want without the source disk until you exit out of diskcopy.
