how do I remove NT from an old computer?
MY friend got a intel PII with NT installed for several years. He forgot his password, so now, he wants to remove NT and install win98. Can he just put in the win98 cd and install it, or is there anything else we need to do prior that?

Do you want to keep any data that is on there?
If so, could be tricky if the file system is NTFS. If not, you can just wipe the HDD with FDISK, and start from scratch. David. |

If that's the case just boot up to a 98 boot disk, FDISK to delete the NT partition(s), create a new partition for 98, format it and install.

probably the best thing to do is run the W98 setup disk, when it loads press shift+F5 to get a promt and run fdisk.
delete all partitions and create a primary dos partition and set it active, then format. run the setup again or boot right to the CD and install. |
