problem

hello
my mom called me and says all her programs are opening up faster than she can shut them down.she is very new and its frustrating to try and find out what is happening.she took it in to be repaired ,she picked it up and they told her there was nothing wrong with it.(it cost her$ 75.00 to tell her that)i live to far away to help her.i think it is something she is doing with her mouse, any ideas what it could be?

Two things sound possible:

1) Programs have been placed into startup folder
2) If she is confusing pop ups in internet for programs then her home page has been hijacked by one of those sites you get if you just slightly misspell a web site and she acepted a "change my home page to....." pop up.

my 2 cents

I have to agree with sdkfz, there. Does your mom say they are actually programs (like word, powerpoint, quicktime, realplayer, anti virus progs, etc), or are they just ads? Does it only happen at startup, or when she is surfing?

Yup, they've got to be in Startup. None will be actual programs, just shortcuts, so they can all be deleted with no ill effects.
