Mediaplayer wont play

For no apparant reason my Media Player stopped playing music and I finally found out that "mute" is ticked on the volume in the "play" menu. Now I can tick "up" or press "F10" to get the sound back on but after it plays just one piece of music it defaults back to "mute" again I am hoping there is someone out there who knows how to get the thing to stay off the "mute" setting.

Hi,

Is anything muted in Volume Control (the little speaker icon in the system tray by the clock) that might affect playback? HTH

if Floppymans suggestion doesn't help,
try taking off the mute and reboot before playing a file...

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I found out by messing around for ages what the problem was. On the Media Player skin on the left side towards the bottom is a tiny speaker icon and you can toggle it between play and mute. Unbelievable what frustration this has caused me. Thanks again guys.
