Question Rule of thumb for progs?

Is there a general rule of thumb to see whether or not a program can be installed on XP; even if does not say if it is or isn't compatible with XP?

XP has been out long enough most softmakers will have something about it on their websites. Whether it be a patch or a message saying it works fine or telling you it won't work. It's a good place to start.
