FDos-SynKal and the others

I have a broadband connection, running W2k sp3, also have Network Associates Virus scan/virus shield running, but haven't managed to block about 5 different viruses infecting my system. Each time virus scan finds 15 infected files
infected with FDos-SynKal
Backdoor-GI
FDos-Knightz
IRC/Flood.ba
IRC/Flood.c
IRC/Flood.e
IRC/Flood.i
Movieworld
It deletes the infected files, but if I do a scan just after, it will find all the same infected files again. How do I get rid of this infection for good? It seems to be restricting my access to my other pc on the network.
Any ideas?
I have tried moosoft, didn't really resolve the problem.

For anyone that is following this, I have deleted two files meminstall.exe and ocxdll.exe from the system32 folder which contained the offending viruses. This has solved the problem for the moment, but how would i prevent this happening again without having to find the money for a filewall?
I have also put passwords on the pcs connected to the internet.

Stop going on IRC.
Get a better virus/trojan scanner, McAfee isn't known for their reliability around here.

Thanks reboot. I didn't actually know what IRC was, now I realise it has something to do with the fact that the person that uses that computer uses msn messenger! So that would explain it. So if I tell her to stop chatting, and think about a different virus scanner. I thought it did a good job on a network I support on sbs2000, but I have seen threads on this forum that don't sing it's praises.
Thanks
