fqpissed HP Laserjet vs. Corel - Heavyweight matchup

When I OSR with my HP Laserjet 1100 scanner I get an error that reads "The Perfecr Fit dll's cannot load. I am using Corel Word 8.0 and do not have any other option. The fix given to me from HP tech support was lame and did not work. Has anyone else ever dealt with this issue and maybe help me out...

I've had problems with scanner software before, but only because I have an Epson Scanner and a Canon printer (Epson is rather prejudiced)...
I would try uninstalling the OSR software as well as the Corel, then reboot and install them again.....Corel first, then the OSR.
If you have special driver software for the scanner, uninstall it too.
Reinstall the scanner first.
hope this helps

I just checked over at Corel support, and it looks like Dan's idea has a good chance. The closest error match that I could find an article for was "The PerfectFit DLLS cannot load" - although strangely enough the version in question here was WordPerfect 7. I'm thinking that they are usually even slower than Microsoft at fixing bugs, so version 8 might have the same trouble. The fix for version 7 was to reinstall Corel.

If the software is from Caere, you could try their site. Is it HP's own OCR software, or 3d party provided by HP? I'd try the 3rd party's website support.

Usually error messages that something can't load means that a Registry entry is messed up, and is pointing to the wrong path. Another idea to throw in is a possible run of RegClean - you could run it right away, or perhaps between the uninstall and reinstall of the programs. It's available at http://download.com.com/3000-2094-881470.html?tag=list

Best of luck
. . . Gary

[p.s. . . . don't worry that the blurb says Win95: the 4.1 version of RegClean was updated for Win98]

Hey guys,

There was a left over Corel 7.0 folder that needed to be deleated. Then I reinstalled 8.0. RThen I uninstalled the printer/scanner and reinstalled it. I made sure that the scanner was usinf Word perfect and it all worked great. Thanks!
