what program are you viewing with? some programs have sound extraction options built in. If the program you are using doesn't have it, you will have to find a program that features this option.

You can use the demultiplex function of TMPGEnc (www.tmpgenc.net) for this purpose.

The movie itself is stored in the MPEGAV folder on the CD as avseq01.dat.
You might need to convert it to a regular MPEG file, you can do this with VCDeasy. The TMPGEnc demultiplex will work for sure.

In TMPGEnc, File>MPEG Tools, go to the Demultiplex card, there you can load your video file, then the incorporated video and audio streams are shown, double click on the file you want to save and there ya go.

Basically yes, however a VCD audio track is not MP3, it's usually WAV or MP1.
You can encode it to MP3 afterwards with an encoding software.
