media player 9
I run xp pro at work. I upgraded to media player 9.
What a POS, I can't play anything through it. I try to open some movie trailers, they end up crashing WMP9, all of them. This thing barely plays mp3's. I would not care, except that ALOT of movie trailers are in WMP format, or quicktime (which won't play either), and Real, (no way)

It seems to be working okay for me... ...so far.

I don't know of a solution right now. It seems people are either having fits with it or it works just fine for them. I haven't installed it yet because I'm generally not very lucky when I knew better in advance. About all you can do as I understand it is to restore to a day before you installed it. I don't believe there is an uninstall option for it.

I don't plan on upgrading. Why "fix" something that already works fine?

I'm still running WMP 6.4 (with the latest codecs etc.) on my win2k box and it works fine. From what it sounds like it's probably best to stick with it too and not upgrade, which I hadn't planned on anyway.

I was running the beta version and the only glitch I had was that the timeline didn't work... when the official release came, everything worked fine.

Must have been the beta that couldn't be unisnstalled. I know there are complaints all over the net about it. I'm in no hurry to upgrade to it so I figured I would just give it sometime first and se how it works for others.
