Not sure which OS to use...help

In a new build

(Athlon 2000+, Asus A7n266, W. Digital 80 gig, CDRW, DVD & using DSL)

I have loaded win. 98 SE and can't get all the drivers to load and getting error messages.

I am wanting to install XP professional. With all of this stuff happening with 98SE, should I use the XP upgrade or get full version and wipe the computer clean of 98??

In looking at add/remove hardware I can't even find Win 98 SE to remove it.

I don't have anything important installed yet on the computer, what would you all recommend.

Thanks

You can do a clean install of XP Pro with the upgrade cd. Since you have 98 already, you can go the route of the update disc.

I would sort out the drivers issue. Check the HCL for XP, you can run the free XP test at www.pcpitstop.com
If you're going to get XP, go for the full version, not the upgrade.

Thanks for the info.

I think I will install the full version of professional XP

Does the service packs mean upgrades???

I thought I had configured things wrong in the build but I think it is just 98SE on this machine going crazy.

Any other suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.
