Help with setup problems

Okay - need some help
Have a computer running NT and the message came up - Winnt could not start b/c the following file is missing or corrupt \winnt\system32\config\system hardware profile\last known good menu
After receiving that I used winnt disks to try and repair - however ended up getting message of - setup is unable to locate hard drive partition prepared by MS DOS portion

Attempted setup again and now am recieving - Setup unable to locate CD Rom Drive .........
Please help me get this computer back up and running. Not sure where to go from here.
