not able to run freecell
Hi, If I mess up somewhere here I'm sorry. I'm a newbie to forums.
Here is the problem. I was have a problem with a few programs so I reformated my drive. I installed win 98 se. Everything seemed to be going good. My wife went to play freecell and when you move the mouse over the playing field you get the hourglass. When you move the mouse over the other part of the screen to close, or change game etc. there isn't a problem. I reinstalled windows, undated my video drivers, updated and ran my anti virus, ran windows update. I'm not sure what to try next. I don't want to reformat again. I found a freecell program to use, but it's not the same as fixing it yourself. Thank you for you time. Vito |

Go into the Control panel to Add/Remove Programs, click the Windows Setup tab, double click Accessories, uncheck games and that will unistall them, then restart, go back to the same place and check games to reinstall them. Have your Win98se disk handy, as it will ask for it. Hope that helps.

If that doesn't work, did you do a completely clean install?
I know you said you re-formatted, but can we just confirm that you took the disk back to totally blank? If you have to re-install again, and you don't have any data you want to keep, then I normally suggest that you also FDISK and remove / recreate the partition(s). Seems odd that it doesn't work from a clean install. David. |

Vmustang67,
I too have had that problem in several computers running win98se and 2k. If you do a search on this forum you will see a couple of threads regarding freecell. It has to do with other third party software installed because reformating never fixed the issue for me even though I did do it. I'll see what I can find. HTH Edrod13 |

Hi all
Here are the MS Knowledge Base articles for Free Cell conflicts FreeCell conflicts http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310870 Office XP& FreeCell http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;304402 I'll look around a little more later - maybe by then edrod13 will already have found a post with a nice fix ![]() . . . Gary [p.s. . . . and look at that, edrod comes through again. I have to laugh that the fix at the bottom of the page looks most promising: the funny part is that it involves a MS mouse driver conflicting with an MS game] Last edited by GaryRouth; 02-09-2003 at 09:21 PM. |

Hi all,
Thank you for your help. I Tried the things that were suggested. I did have to do a clean install. When I do a clean install. I fdisk, delete and create partitions. Then format c: /s/v. Things seem to be back in order for the most part. I appreciate the help. Thank you very much Vito |
