Deleted file not going into recycle bin...

the last files shown in recycle bin are from weeks ago, and I've done plenty of deleting since then.

After deleting a test.txt file, I did a search for it on all drives and it yielded nothing. Seems to be permanently deleted.

Any suggestions?

next time you can't get a file to delete try deleting it while in safe mode or do it with the dos prompt.

I remember seeing somewhere there is a setting for deleting files and wether you want them to go into the recycle bin or just be deleted without going into recycle bin. I'm looking right now but can't remember where that setting is at.
There it is,, right click recycle bin then properties and see if that box is checked that would basically disable files from going into the RB when deleting.

You right-click recycle bin on desktop & click prooperties, but I'm set to send files to recycle bin, and they're still not.

What about your percent of the drive that is allocated and the amount of free space you have. It's probably the actual registry setting that is hosed, but I don't know where that is found, but I would check that disable the recycle bin box, reboot, uncheck it, reboot and try again.
