Reformat HD/Reinstall XP
I upgraded to Windows XP about a year ago. I am not having any problems. However, my hard drive is almost full...which I dont quite understand, because I dont think I have that many programs. Granted, my computer is about 5 years old.
I would like to know if reformating my hard drive might save some space, and help my PC to run faster. I would also like to know if there might be any foreseeable problems with reinstalling XP Home Edition. |

Shouldn't be any issue with reformatting and re-installing, but I doubt you are going to see much of a return of hard drive space unless you have a habit of installing and uninstalling a lot of programs on a regular basis. You might be losing a lot of hard drive space thru the system restore feature and temp files.

Have you ran a virus scan lately? If your drive is filling up more than you think it should for no reason it could be a virus.
For a quick clean up go to start\search type [~*.*, *.tmp] (no brackets) and delete anything it turns up regardless of the warnings you may get. Run a defrag and then delete any files with .000 .001.002.etc. extension. See if this alleviates your drive space problem. |
