Font is gone in win2k
Hi all,
I have never seen this before. I booted up today, got into my email program and noticed that my emails were there, but the font it gone. I can't see any titles or emails themselves. The same when I go to certain sites. The titles will show up, but where the text is supposed to be it's just blank. I haven't changed anything, it was all working fine last night. Any ideas? TIA. |

It appears that it's the Arial font that's not showing up. I can type it, it just doesn't show up, not matter what color. Any ideas? Would a repair off the win2k do the trick? Thanks again.

What about just replacing the arial file font itself?

Thanks Tuf,
Looks like things went from bad to worse. I did a repair option and now the system won't even boot anymore (safe mode, normal, etc., all don't work). It will stop at a BSOD with the following: STOP: c000026c {Unable to Load Device Driver} \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Msfs.SYS device driver could not be loaded Error Status was 0xc000020 If this is the first time you've seen this.....etc. Any ideas? Being that it's referring to Msfs.sys, it probably can't be good. Am I in for reinstall, or can I fix this somehow? Repair option won't work anymore, it won't even recognize the installation. Thanks again. |

I'm sure anything can be fixed but that is a pickle. If I remember correctly msfs.sys is the driver for the file system. Without that it would be difficult to attempt to fix anything , at least with my knoweledge.
You could try M$ support, they will either know right away or be as stymied as you and I. If you can get to a command prompt with by booting with the CD you cab try "fix mbr" but in my experience if that fails with XP you will have to format and start over. I suspect you have a really odd problem that will continue to plague you even if you can get it to boot. If you have everything backed up and M$ can't help, I would format it and start over unless you have an image you could restore. |

Thanks again for the help, Tuf. After trying various things and still not being able to boot into windows, I've decided just to do a reinstall.

I wish I knew a better solution and I hope you had everything backed up.
