My friend has wordpad on 98, I got XP, I have tried to find out why, but I cant, his wordpad uses double spaces automatically, and when you hit back space, it goes back up 2 lines, I cant figure out why, anyone know how to change that setting, cause there has got to be a difference in 98 and XP cause I have tried every option on XP and I cant figure out how...thanks for you advice.

Hi...I just scoured Wordpad for a setting for spacing and found nothing (I'm operating 98se). I wonder if this problem is keyboard related. Have your friend try using notepad, or another text editor(MSWord?) to see if it does the same thing in those programs.
Wordpad is uninstallable, so in the worst case scenario he could always uninstall it, and then try reinstalling.... |

Uninstall the keyboard from the divice manager and reboot.
Also you can try to Put in your win98 CD and click on add/remove programs. Remove notepad and wordpad, reboot and reinstall. I found this tip in this form section. edge345 |

This is just a follow up detail: to find NotePad and WordPad in Add/Remove Programs, go to the Windows Setup tab, and select "Accessories", click on "Details" - and uncheck the box in front of WordPad to uninstall it, reboot, then go to the same place again, but this time replace the check to reinstall it.
