Help - W98Se to WinXP install
My daughters computer has W98Se currently and is having some problems. She lives in another city so I have to help her over the phone.
We want to install Win XP and reformat the drive. Can she insert the WinXP disk and then use the reformat option or will she have to use fdisk or C:/format, on the drive first and then insert the XP disk and load. I really want to get rid of everything that is on the system right now so that if there is some sort of bug or trojan there, it can be eliminated with a clean install. I'm trying to make it as easy on her as possible. |

She just needs to boot from the CD and it will run thru the format process automatically.

Yes: she can insert the WinXP disk and then use the reformat option. she may have to set the system to boot from cd-rom fist in the bios.

Thanks for the information. I have never done a WinXP install on anything but a "clean" disk. Since we are doing this over the phone, at least this will be somewhat easier for her to perform.
thanks again. |
