Restore disk vs ?
I have always been a fan of using my restore disks. anytime my system starts to go haywire in goes the disk. Of course I back up any important files and such first.
Mind you I don't do it all that often, But hey I have 2 teenage daughters and lets face it, they're always downloading something off the net., and I do get the occasional Illness. Anyway heres my cituation.... One day my wife calls me from her office and says want some computer stuff ...for free? I'm no fool... I said "Does a bear S___ in the woods? She tells me one of the other tennants in her building just dumped a bunch of stuff in the trash, just come n get it. Well after lugging all that junk (i mean gold) home, i managed to get one good system out of it. Its a Power Spec 300mhz P2 win98se 3.24gbWD 32mb. Its got a whole bunch of Personal business software junk on it that i'll never use. (a real hacker could probably have a field day in this hard drive) but I'm not looking to ruin anyone Ijust want to clean it off. How do I do it without a restore disk? I have my own Windows 98 Cd that I bought for another old machine i upgraded. Can I use it to restore this old thing or do i live with it the way it is and just return it to its earlier fate with which I saved it from, when i'm done with it? And is using my win98cd on another one of my puters concidered pirating?

Boot using a win98 startup diskette and choose the option with cd-rom support, Then at the a: prompt type format c: then press enter. all data will be gone. after the format inset the win98 cd and type e:setup (e: being the cd-rom letter) to install win98....

If the win98 is present on another computer it is pirating and misuse of your OS. Reference the EULA on the machine it is presently loaded on. The license is for a "single" computer unless you purchase another license from M!soft.
