Stand by mode

My windows stand by button is blanked out. I'm using XP Pro. When I hit start > shut down, the stand by button is unclickable. How come?

Might have something to do with your power management settings.

Check that the power management is enabled in the BIOS.

It's not a bios issue if the OS recognizes the PC's bios as being ACPI compliant.

Under power options in the control panel do you have any parameters selected under power schemes? If it set to be always on and no stanby options have been selected it may not let you go into stanby by.
