Is there any way to defrag these 32 files, every time it says tere are 32 fragmented files left on your computer, after about 10 more goes at it, they are still there, and it says they are mostly i ntdlr.
is there anyway i can defrag these files aswell? Cheers

ah, sorry, but what's "ntdlr" ??
Also, I don't know much 'bout XP, but are you using Windows defragger, or a third party utility? Most likely, you'll need to use a third party tool... TwoRails PS: don't know if this will help, but... http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=56076 Last edited by TwoRails; 02-13-2003 at 03:27 AM. |

I'm not too much help on this one, Spyda..... I don't have ntdlr*.* on my Win 98.2 box, and I've not used Diskeeper, even though I hear it's great.
Any ideas Diskeeper users?? TwoRails |

Diskeeper can be set to do a boot up defrag of the page file, directory structure, etc. Have you tried that yet? If you do this, I would backup anything of value first [Diskeeper will give you this warning also] since it is a pretty major rewrite of your disk.

I just ran it again to see; there were five files that it could not defrag. These were in some service logs not ntdlr files. I do not know what else to try other than using another defrag utility.
As long as it works well ….. |

Those few files won't be worth sweating over as far a system performance goes, why sweat it? Are you experiencing any real world problems that you attribute to these files?

Mine were never fragmanted until I installed SP1. But it is annoying to have a few files that are always passed over by the defrag utility.
What I did was to make copies of the files that wouldn't defrag and put them on a Zip disk. I defragged the Zip and then replaced the originals. There may be an easier way but it's the only thing I tried and it worked fine. |
