Boom Short cut issues

I have an issue where every time I restart my computer I lose all of my short cuts on my desktop. The icons are still there but the link is broken. I have not run any new updates or installed any new software/hardware before the problem started.?????

Thanks in advance for your help.

just to see how far this malady had gone, right click on one of your desktop icons and choose properties...if you click on the "find target" button, does the application or folder open?
can you open any of the "targets" from the start/programs menu?
almost sounds like a virus I once had, have you run any antivirus scans??
if you create a new shortcut, will it open it's target??

Dan,

Thanks for your reply. When I click on find target it performs a search for the target and locates the target that is the closest match with a 50/50 shot at getting it right. I can in fact locate the target and recreate the short cut and all works fine. Until I re-boot the computer that is. I am and have been running NAV corporate edition. I ran a virus scan with no results.

do you run NAV in automatic mode? if so try disabling, and use manual start...see if this helps.
I had a similar problem, but it happened after an update.
First try going to start/run and type sfc
Run the system file check, it may not pick up on the shell32.dll being altered....then try to extract shell32.dll from your installation disc and replace the one in the windows/system folder (c:/windows/system) . This might work in your case, but be sure to back up the shell32.dll that you have. I suspect this file may have become corrupt.
and also, how recent are your virus definitions?
