Question pagefile.sys Error

I tried running Diskeeper Lite earlier today and soon as I started it gave me this message.

ScanNtfs: Scanaborted-FatalError-File: pagefile.sys

Anybody got any suggestions?

Run check disk before defraging if you are getting errors. It can't defrag your pagefile except at boot time.

It is possible to delete pagefile.sys, sometimes you have to work at it a little. Windows will rebuild it.

I ran check disk and it didn't show any errors, so I ran diskeeper
again and got the same error. How do I go about deleting the
pagefile.sys?

I went into performance options and checked off no page file and was able to run diskeeper with no problems. I really like diskeeper. To me, it's better than the regular defrag that comes with XP. Thnx for the help.

Diskeeper is a better program, actually XP uses an even lighter version than the one you are using.

Be sure and go back enable your paging file. You may be able to exclude the file from your regular defragmenting. I am not sure about the lite version. But it really should move it for you anyway.

I run my swap on a different drive and it defrags when I reboot which isn't very often. My other partitions defrag every night. Probably doesn't take two minutes to defrag two 80GB drives this way.

Thanks for the info. Tuf. Hopefully I won't have anymore problems out of pagefile.sys for a little while.
