XP Pro wireless networking problem

I recently installed windows xp professional on one of my computers in my network. I installed a wireless network adapter in it and set up the network. I must have done something wrong, because every once and i while, it says im disconnected from the network. When this happens, its off, then back on, then off, then back on, etc. Whats going on here?!? Any help would be appreciated!

how far away are you from the other comuter, that is directly connected to the cable line? I havnt done this myself but I have a friend who is the same situation as you, and after asking a few questions we determined that either the signal power on his wireless card was too weak and he needed to get a better, or he should get a signal booster, both cost about 90 bucks from waht we have seen.

I hope that helps

I am about 15 - 20 feet away, but the signal goes through about 2 walls. The card i got comes with a program to monitor the signal and its usually at 50%. What is a signal booster and where do i get one?

You might try changing channels and see if that helps if not a signsl booster is probably a good idea.

Check this:

What model you got there? Have you tried resetting your Router to factory default then Enter the Web setup. You could see what channel and traffic mode are best for you there. Also be sure not to put your Router near any Cordless Phone, TV or appliances.

I got a DLink Air+ too and the extender help a lot for my Computer in the basement.

HTH.
