Any Way To Use HFS+ With Win98se

It would be nice if Win98se supported HFS+ or whatever they call it so you wouldn't have to waste so much space with todays large hard drives. Other than upgrading, is there any way to use hfs+ with Windows98se.

Hi Harry,

I don't use Lunix, so what's so great about HFS?? (Just curious).

Also, wasted drive space is dependent on cluster size of any Windows running FAT ~ FAT 32, not just Win 98.2.

I partition my hard drives according to use, so I have most cluster sizes at 4MB, and some at 8, and 16MB. How much space does HFS use?

Yes, the reason for the partitioning is of course because of the cluster size breakdown which is as follows:

512mb - 8,191mb = 4K same for NTFS in Win2000/XP
8,192mb - 16,303mb = 8K and only 4k for NTFS in Win2000/XP
16,304mb - 32,767mb = 16K and only 4k for NTFS in Win2000/XP
Greater than 32,768mb = 32K but only 4K for NTFS in Win2000/XP

I have a 60 Gig drive I'm going to install and there is no way that it would be economical to install only one or two partitions with such a drive under win98se. To get the most out of the drive with Win98se, I'd have to have like seven 8 gig partitions and one smaller partition for the Windows OS. That makes a total of 9 partitions.

I think your drive becomes weird when you have more than 4 partitions. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe some of you have more than that and feel good about it. But it just seems like you might start forgetting where everything is and it might get harder to get to things when you have too many partitions.

I guess I could have one 32 gig partition and four 6 gig partitions and one 3 gig partition. But that still makes a total of 6 partitions.

The smaller cluster size with NTFS in Windows 2000 and XP could add like maybe 5 to 10 gigs to a 60 gig drive.
