When I was installing XP pro, i ran into problems when i was trying to make a partition. Instead of creating the partition to split the drive however, I created a file folder (new folder) with the hard drive symbol within drive C. Now the files are getting copied within the new folder. It seems that for every file that is saved 8 more apear. They have paths such as:
C:\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\New Folder\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 C:\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\HARTFORD 2003 Also when I tried to delete the new folder it wouldn't let me because "files are in use". Any thoughts on this? |

Try starting over, by booting with the XP CD, deleting active partitions, formating and starting from scratch.
If that fails and it was me, I would get me a WIN98 boot disk, run Fdisk, format that sucker and start over. If it's a NTFS partition I would get the drive diagnostics, zero fill that sucker and start over. Chas

LOL that's a new one to me. I have no idea why it would do that. But I am curious as to why.
