Just want to check :: Fixboot

Okay, been running XP for a few months now (and i quite like it! ) and have decided to dual boot also (to run 98). I know i can create a new partition in PM7 (which has to go before the current XP partition) which will be FAT32 (or should it just be "FAT", i've heard XP can't read fat32 drives (Weird if you ask me!), and labeled G:

So when i run fixboot, do i run fixboot c: or fixboot g: ?
Just want to make sure as i can't live without my computer for even just a few minutes

I am taking a backup first just to be sure.
And, after that, how to i setup XP to be automatically selected at boot, after about 2 secs (as 99% of the time i'll be wanting to boot into XP anyway) - is the boot.ini file simple enough to edit?. Oh, and can i hibernate XP and switch into 98? If it's not possible that's okay, it's just i usual hibernate XP as it boots faster that way .

Thanks for your help.

what a load of hogwash.
Have you read all the posts in Tips on how to add 98 to and existing XP install?

I'm sure it was something to do with a table i saw on the MS site, maybe just read it wrong. And you've got me their, no i didn't read the guides :/ But i remember skimming over them before and they talked about fdisk n' your HD etc, and i just don't have the time to re-install everything and i'm not planning to get a second HD. My other questions were more important

No, you don't need to fdisk, nor reinstall everything.
Fixboot would be run on C (the drive with XP on it) to fix it's boot record. It may STILL not recognize the 98 installation after that, without editing the boot.ini file.
Go read the tips section about adding a 98 install to an existing XP one.

Time to build another one, network the two, and then you always have one online
I'm at the point where I'm building a 5th one for home. One for each member of the family, and a second one for me when my first is down for whatever reason.

Sounds like he got it mixed up. I think what he meant was 98 cannot read an NTFS partition.
